Bhutan National flag.

Image
Druk Yul — that’s the Bhutanese name for Bhutan, which translates to “Land of the Thunder Dragon”.  The dragon , who is center-stage in Bhutan’s myths and legends, is also the principal character on Bhutan’s national flag. It sits in the center in white, clasping jewels in each claw. The white signifies purity and loyalty, whereas the jewels symbolize  national wealth and perfection. The flag is divided diagonally from the top right corner to the bottom left corner. The left side is yellow whereas the right side is dark orange.  The yellow color represents the yellow Kabney , the power of the King as the secular government . Meanwhile, the dark orange points to the Kagyupa and Nyingmapa Buddhist sects, referring to the religious commitment of the country.

Blue Poppy.( National flower of Bhutan).

Image
Blue poppies, the national flower, that once grew in abundance at the Chelela pass in Paro has been severely depleted in recent years according to the Royal Society for the Protection of Nature. "We spotted only three flowering and two seedlings at Chelela this June and July," said the society's ecologist and ornithologist, Rebecca Pradhan. According to the society there were about 150 blue poppies in the 1990s. In 2000, the number had dwindled to 20 and to 11 in 2002. The society feels that the depletion is because of plundering by people from neighboring districts with particular interest in gardening. With the highway going through the pass it is easy for people to go and dig up the flowers which are about 5 to 10 minutes walk away from the road," said Rebecca Pradhan. Small holes left in the flowering area indicated that people had been digging up these plants according to the society. The society fears that this species might be wiped out totally from Chelela. H

Lord Buddha.

Image
Siddhartha Gautama,  the founder of Buddhism who later became known as “the Buddha,” lived during the 5th century B.C.  Gautama was born  into a wealthy family as a prince in present-day Nepal. Although he had an easy life, Gautama was moved by suffering in the world.  He decided to give up his lavish lifestyle and endure poverty. When this didn’t fulfill him, he promoted the idea of the “Middle Way,” which means existing between two extremes. Thus, he sought a life without social indulgences but also without deprivation.  After six years of searching, Buddhists believe Gautama found enlightenment while meditating under a Bodhi tree. He spent the rest of his life teaching others about how to achieve this spiritual state.

Water cycle.

Image
The water cycle (or hydrological cycle) is the cycle that water goes through on Earth.  Then, the water falls from the sky as rain, snow, sleet or hail. This is called precipitation. The water sinks into the surface and also collects into lakes, oceans, or aquifers. It evaporates again and continues the cycle. Water cycle is defined as the way that water moves between being water vapor to liquid water and then back to water vapor. An example of water cycle is when water evaporates from oceans and then returns to the land in the form of rain.   There are four main parts to the water cycle: Evaporation, Convection, Precipitation and Collection.  1)  Evaporation.  Evaporation is when the sun heats up water in rivers or lakes or the ocean and turns it into vapor or steam. The water vapor or steam leaves the river, lake or ocean and goes into the air. We have already learnt about transpiration, did you know that transpiration gives evaporation a bit of a hand in getting the water vapor back
